What is Army ROTC?

Army ROTC is an elective curriculum students can try for up to two years without any military obligation. Unlike traditional college programs, Army ROTC provides a wide range of experiences, learning skills that will give them an edge when looking for a job.

Is ROTC like boot camp?

No, ROTC isn’t like boot camp. Amy ROTC is a college elective degree-seeking students receive credit for.

What is the Army ROTC curriculum comprised of?

The Army ROTC curriculum is divided into two phases: Basic Course and Advanced Course.
The Basic Course focuses o Army history, organization an structure. The Advanced Course focuses on tactical operations, military instruction, as well as advanced techniques of management, leadership and command.

What are the benefits of enrolling in ROTC?

Students learn the leadership and management skills needed to become a U:S. Army officer or have a successful civilian career. Upon graduation, cadets who have completed the ROTC courses will become commissioned officers in the U.S. Army.

What makes ROTC different from other college management courses?

Students in ROTC learn through a unique program that involves both classroom and lie situations. For example, an ROTC cadet might lead classmates through adventure training down a river or up a mountain wall.

Does Army ROTC offer scholarships?

Yes, each year hundreds of students attending colleges nationwide receive Army ROTC scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students studying science, engineering, nursing, business and other majors.

How much money does ROTC usually award? What does the money go towards?

The Army ROTC Scholarship covers full tuition or room and board up to $10,000 per year. ROTC cadets also receive a cadet stipend of $420 per month and an allowance of $1,200 for books.

On what basis are scholarship winners chosen?

Army ROTC scholarships are awarded on merit. Merit is exhibited in academic achievement and extracurricular activities, such as sports, student government or part-time work.

Can only scholarship winners enroll in ROTC?

No, anyone can enroll in ROTC. Regardless of receiving a scholarship, all ROTC books, supplies and equipment are provided for you.

How often are Army ROTC scholarships awarded?

National Scholarships are awarded following three boards. High school students may apply between mid-June and early February. Visit Army ROTC Scholarships for specific dates.
Students may also apply for two, three and four-year campus-based scholarships after they’re admitted and enrolled in ROTC as a non-contracted cadet.
